President Trump endorses Donalds for Florida Governor

Trump Backs Donalds for Governor

Former President Donald Trump on Thursday endorsed Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) for Florida governor if the congressman decides to enter the race.

“Byron Donalds would be a truly Great and Powerful Governor for Florida and, should he decide to run, will have my Complete and Total Endorsement. RUN, BYRON, RUN!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

Poll Shows Donalds Leading Hypothetical Primary

Trump’s endorsement follows the release of an internal poll earlier this week showing Donalds leading a hypothetical Republican primary for governor. According to the poll, Donalds garnered 31 percent support, while Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nuñez (R) received 4 percent and Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson (R) earned 3 percent.

Donalds has reportedly informed several Florida Republican donors of his intention to enter the gubernatorial race.

Trump’s Praise for Donalds’ Agenda

“As Governor, Byron would have a BIG Voice, and would work closely with me to advance our America First Agenda,” Trump added in his post. “He will fight tirelessly to Secure our Border, Stop Migrant Crime, Strengthen our Military, Protect our Vets, Restore our Economic Power, Advance American Energy DOMINANCE, and Defend our always under siege Second Amendment.”

Donalds’ Loyalty to Trump

Donalds has been a strong supporter of Trump, notably backing him over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) during last year’s Republican presidential primary. Trump also recognized Donalds during the inaugural parade in January, highlighting his future potential.

“Stand up, Byron,” Trump said at the time. “What a future this one has.”

Donalds’ Optimism About Trump’s Return

Last month, Donalds expressed optimism about Trump’s possible return to the White House.

“When Americans see deportations or repatriations happen, they’re gonna be like, ‘Thank you,'” Donalds told Fox News. “When they see the border closed, they’re gonna say, ‘This is what I voted for.’ When they see peace starting to break out again around the world, they’re gonna be like, ‘This is the stability that we were asking for.'”

“Daddy’s back,” he added.
