Trump in position to gain help from big-name conservative groups for the 2026 midterms

Club for Growth, a conservative organization who has spent a lot of money on GOP primaries, is ready to up their spending for the 2026 election cycle. The group plans to do this while also aligning with President Donald Trump.

Speaking to Fox News Digital, Club for Growth President David McIntosh detailed the group’s plans for 2026. “Our goal is going to be even bigger and do more,” he stated. The organization focuses on a fiscally conservative agenda, as well as a focus on cutting taxes.

In the GOP primary scene, the Club for Growth Action super PAC has been a prominent presence. In 2024, Club for Growth Action, as well as super PACs that were affiliated with them, raised $163 million. 73% of the races they invested in ended up resulting in victories.

But in 2026, the group plans to up the ante. They’re working hard to maintain and expand the majorities that Republicans hold in the U.S. House and Senate. “A lot of that depends on the members. We’re dependent on our donors to help us fund these races,” McIntosh said in regards to upping their investments for key 2026 races.

“We’ve go some very good, generous people who support us in that. One of the key factors is going to be President Trump and his endorsement. That literally trumps everything else. So what we would do is recommend to him and his political team what candidates that we think would support his agenda, the free market, limited government conservatives that we could support together,” McIntosh continued.

Club For Growth’s Overall Relationship With Trump

The relationship between President Donald Trump and Club for Growth has been a bit of a rollercoaster ride. In 2016, the group was opposed to Trump’s campaign for president. But afterwards they became allies. In the 2022 midterms, the two political powers joined forces to support several GOP candidates in their primaries. But they did butt heads over races in Alabama, Pennsylvania and Ohio.

During the 2024 Republican presidential primary cycle, Club for Growth were at odds with Trump again. The president even referred to the group as “The Club for NO Growth” and said that they were “an assemblage of political misfits, globalists, and losers.”

But now they seem to be back in each other’s good graces. In March of 2024, Trump explained that he and McIntosh were “back in love.”

“I think you’ll see Club for Growth PACs work closely with President Trump, his political team,” McIntosh said while speaking to Fox News. “We’re definitely going to be working closely with his policy team to get the tax bill through, a lot of the legislation that we both agree is really important for turning things around in the country.”

Current Goals

Club for Growth is working on a federal advocacy program that will cost eight figures. This campaign will support various free-market initiatives that Trump’s administration has proposed. A policy item at the top of the campaign’s list is to codify Trump’s tax cuts that were passed during his first stint as president.

The organization is also looking to push federal school freedom legislation which would permit parents “to use federal tax dollars to send their students to the public, private, charter, or homeschool that best fits their learning needs.”

Club for Growth seems to have their eyes set on fully assisting Republicans and Donald Trump in the 2026 election cycle. While the group and Trump have had tense moments in their relationship in the past, none of that seems to be stopping them from putting together real momentum ahead of the midterms.
